Aluckson
BIRTHDAY: May 8, 2007
JOINED THE WINGS OF HOPE FAMILY: May 2008
Aluckson is a little boy with multiple disabilities. He has club feet, vision problems, deformities of his soft palate and tongue. He is also autistic and may have some mental disabilities.
Aluckson came to Wings of Hope through an organization who was addressing some of his medical issues. He was taken to the United States by Angels Missions Haiti to have surgery on his club feet. However, surgery did not take place because of Aluckson’s behavioral issues while he was staying with foster families while in the United States. When Aluckson was in the United States his mother, who is single, sent word that she did not want him back. When he returned to Haiti, his mother would not take him back and the staff from Angel Missions Haiti brought him to Wings of Hope. Although she said she could not take him back into her home, his mother still cares about him and comes to Wings of Hope to visit Aluckson.
While Aluckson does not show much emotion, other than to cry, he does not exhibit the behavioral issues he did when he was in the United States. The staff at Wings of Hope continues to try to find ways to communicate with Aluckson and help him develop. Because of his vision problems, he spends much of his time looking at his hands and other items that are placed close to his face.
