Pio is from Port-au-Prince. He lived with his father and grandmother. One day when Pio was six-years-old Pio’s father left him on the street. Pio didn’t know where to go or what to do. He was forced to live on the streets and beg for food and money. One day he was befriended by a nun who took him to a hospital to see if he was sick, she then took him to an orphanage where he lived for several months. When that orphanage was closed the nun took him to another home to live, but he was not treated well at that home, so the nun took Pio to another missionary, who then brought Pio to the St. Joseph's Family.
Pio is a happy boy with an engaging personality and a beautiful smile. He likes going to to school. He also likes being a part of the art and dance programs at Trinity House. His favorite activity, however, is playing basketball on the court at Trinity House.
Pio has two medical problems, but they do not slow him down. He has a seizure disorder, and is on daily medication to control his seizures. His left eye is damaged and the cornea is clouded over. We do not know the cause of this, but it was probably due to a past trauma.
