George was born in Cap Haitien, but grew up in Cite Soley, the slum area of Port-au-Prince. His father was a bus driver and went back and forth between Port-au-Prince and Cap Haitien. George’s mother died when he was 12-years-old and he went to live with his aunt in Port-au-Prince. Since his aunt didn’t have the funds to pay for school, she sent George to the Missionaries of Charity Brothers in Cite Soley and he lived there while going to school. Eventually the Brothers brought George to the St. Joseph Family. George is still in contact with the Missionary of Charity Brothers and visits them often.

George is gregarious young man with a quick smile and an out-going personality. He likes interacting with visitors and practicing his English skills by talking to them. George likes helping around St. Joseph’s. He runs the audio system during dance theater performances and sometimes fills in for the security guards. He also volunteers at Wings of Hope during school vacations. George will soon graduate from the St. Joseph Family and the leadership is working with him to prepare him for being on his own and supporting himself.
