Fignole is from Jacmel. He has four brothers and five sisters. His father is a farmer. Fignole’s mother died when he was two-years-old. His father was not able to care for all of his children after his wife died. Madam Moro, who knew Fignole’s family, and who also knew Michael brought Fignole and his brother, Jean Richard to Michael and asked him to take them in. Madam Moro also encouraged Michael to open a home for boys in Jacmel because she saw how St. Joseph’s Home for Boys improved the lives of the boys there and she wanted that for the disadvantaged children she saw in Jacmel. This led to the creation of Trinity House, our home for boys in Jacmel.
Because Fignole was so young when he came to the St. Joseph Family, he went to live at Wings of Hope. He was not handicapped, but just to young to live at St. Joseph’s. Eventually he matured enough to move to St. Joseph’s. Fignole is a member of the Resurrection Dance Theater of Haiti and has danced with the theater ever since he moved to St. Joseph’s. He is a very talented dancer and is now one of the leaders of the dance theater. He has visited the United States several times on dance theater tours.
Fignole is still in contact with his family and he spends summer and holiday vacations with his father in Jacmel. He hopes to one day to be able to support his family.
